Beating a Parliamentarian for Objecting Barzani’s Second Extended Term Fadhil Qaradaghi Due to his objection concerning extending Masud Barzi’s presidential term by another two years; a Change-Movement parliamentarian has been assaulted by two Barzani’s parliament members in the assembly hall. The two ruling parties, Kurdistan “Democratic” Party and Kurdistan Patriotic Party, voted on first extended term for two years on 30th June 2013, but it was refused by the three opposition parties; Change-Movement, Islamic Group, and Islamic Union, regarded by them, and by intellectuals and many citizens as well, as a “parliament coup” because it was illegal and wasn’t through public elections. Masud Barzani, head of Kurdistan “Democratic” Party and president of Kurdistan Region, and his party are now making every effort to win a second extended term through parliament voting. 25-03-2015 www.zagros.org/english-news-2016-05-27-193714 6193 views |
